Have you heard “Andromeda” from Mastodon’s Emperor of Sand yet? No, no you haven’t, because it’s not out yet. Youv’e hard “Sultan’s Curse” and “Show Yourself” from the album, but that’s about to change – at least a little bit. The band’s third episode of the making of Emperor of Sand is out, and one of the songs it focuses on is “Andromeda,” a song written by guitarist Bill Kelliher. Troy Sanders likens it to Burnt by the Sun, the now-defunct New Jersey mathcore band, and says the song is “heavy as two hells.” We don’t get to hear all that much of it, but it definitely reminds us of another New Jersey band, The Dillinger Escape Plan. However, in the verses, it gets more psychedelic. It’s unsure as to whether or not there are vocals on the album version, but it’s all instrumental when they’re playing it, and it sounds amazing. Check it out below.
