When we’re looking back at the year in metal in a few months, 2014 could well be known as the year metal got countrified. In between Rob Scallon’s ukelele and banjo covers of Slayer and Steve N’ Seagull’s down-home takes of Dio and Iron Maiden, there’s a genuine movement, at least when it comes to viral video covers that blogs write about. And now the Finnish band named after the ’90s action movie star is back, this time with a cover of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” In less than a week, the cover of the song has amassed over one million views, and it’s obvious why. It’s fun, funny, high energy and it’s still hard to believe these guys are Finnish and not southerners.
