Fleshgod Apocalypse vocalist Veronica Bordacchini has released a cover of a mash-up featuring Deftones’ “Change (In The House Of Flies)” and Britney Spears’ “Toxic.”
Dubbed “Change (In The House Of Toxic),” the song features the heavy, plodding instrumental of the Deftones track with the words and melody of the Spears tune. Bordacchini sings with a carefulness that compliments the melody’s heaviness, giving the song a sense of realness that you don’t get from the autotuned original.
“This time I wanted to take the things to the next level,” said Bordacchini in a statement about the cover in the video’s description, “that’s why i decided to make this mashup! I know it may sounds weird, but please give it a try! I worked so hard to make it possible and at the same time I had so much fun! I really hope you like it by the way!”
“Change (In The House Of Toxic)” was originally created by DJ Poulpi in 2015 and was covered by William Maranci in September 2019. The latter version went viral at the time and currently has more than 1.23 million views. Bordacchini is the first person to cover the track with live vocals and live instruments.
