We are at the two-month mark until Massachusetts metallers All That Remains release their eighth studio album Madness on April 28. Today, they released two new lyric videos for songs “Madness” and “Safe House” via Loudwire and Bloody Disgusting. After fifteen years in the band’s career, they have never been afraid to explore different styles including pop and rock. Frontman Phil Labonte doesn’t let fear of criticism get in the band’s way from writing material coming from their heart.

Labonte has no sympathy for their stylistic experimentations as he stated:

“Our goal has always been to write songs that we like. All That Remains has seen a lot of criticism about the songs that we’ve written and what people think we’re supposed to do. We started as a very underground death metal kind of band, we’ve since moved away from that and have never apologized for it. The music we’ve written has been reflective of that and I think the lyrics, the ideas, have always been reflective of that as well.”

The melodic video for “Madness” visually goes beyond Labonte’s military background, demonstrating the current issues veterans’ face including homelessness, PTSD, mental health, and drug use. The brutal song “Safe House,” is a visual tribute to the love of horror and slasher films, especially being inspired by the acclaimed Showtime TV series Dexter.
