Anticipation has already been running pretty high for Exodus’ Blood In, Blood Out. First of all, singer Steve “Zetro” Souza will be back for the first time in a decade. Plus, we already know that Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett, who once logged time in Exodus, will be returning for a guitar solo on a song. But there will also be a few more guests on the album. Testament vocalist Chuck Billy will pop up for the song “BTK,” and oddly enough, Dan the Automator, a member of Gorillaz and Mike Patton’s excellent Lovage project, will appear on the album as well, contributing an industrial sound bed on the intro to the album’s opener, “Black 13.” Here’s what Gary Holt said about the latter guest:
[Dan and I] ran into each other a couple times. I knew what I wanted to hear and I knew he could do it, and could do it that day. So we sent him a file with the drums and guitars we already had there and just told him to go crazy with it.”
There hasn’t been this much expectation for an Exodus album in, well, there probably hasn’t ever been this much expectation for an Exodus album. Blood In, Blood Out will be released on Nuclear Blast on October 14th on Nuclear Blast.
