We’ve been keeping track on the status of Slayer’s new EP and album. In fact, by now you probably know a lot about the new material, including who’s producing and when they hope to release the two song teaser. And now it looks like Slayer are right on track with recording.
During an interview with Greece’s Rock Overdose, drummer Dave Lombardo (our usual source for updates on the new album) revealed that recording for vocals has begun. “Kerry [King] and Tom [Araya] are rcording it right now, they are doing the vocals,” Lombardo revealed. The drummer also claimed that while an exact schedule has yet to be confirmed, they do hope to release the two songs this Summer (still likely in time for their stint on Mayhem Fest).
So what does this add to what we already knew about Slayer’s new EP? Only that we can still expect to hear at least two new songs from Slayer this Summer, with a full album to come later this year. Whether guitarist Jeff Hanneman (who will continue to sit out of their upcoming touring commitments) will appear on said material is unclear, though still very likely.
