We were really bummed out to see that Motorhead frontman Lemmy had to cut short last night’s set in Austin after only a few songs. While he’d done the same in Salt Lake City last week, with the Denver show canceled as well, the reason the band had given at the time was that the latitude of the high-up cities prevented him from being able to breathe correctly. That’s disappointing, especially to fans in SLC and Denver, since the odds of the 69 year-old and his band returning to those cities are pretty diminished now. Yet Austin isn’t anywhere near as far above sea level. As a precautionary measure, tonight’s San Antonio show will happen without Motorhead:

As you might have heard, Motörhead again had to abbreviate a performance due to Lemmy not feeling well. This is a DIRECT follow-on from the altitude issues in Colorado, and clearly, Lemmy tried to get back at it too quickly. For this reason, Motörhead will not play in San Antonio tonight, but the show will still go on with Saxon headlining. Lemmy will resume duties the moment he is PROPERLY rested and firing on all cylinders again. The legendary Motörheadbanger patience is much appreciated, and the band send their deepest thanks. More details will be released soon.

Hopefully, this is just an anomaly (albeit a week-long one now). If there’s anyone that’s appeared invincible in recent years, it’s Lemmy. But hearing him apologize, then feebly hobble offstage with a cane doesn’t seem to suggest he’s ready to keep touring. Hopefully everything works out for the best. He’s scheduled to play again this Friday (4) in Dallas. Here’s hoping that he’s recuperated enough to do so by then, and that he gets off the road and rests up if not. There are only a handful more shows on this run before the Motorboat. Here’s the rest of the dates:
