Struggling with mental illness is not easy and many find it overwhelming. It is also brave and commendable for those who are able to open up about their personal battle. With that said, Mirrors For Psychic Warfare, the project between Neurosis’ Scott Kelly and Buried at Sea’s Sanford Parker have cancelled their upcoming November European tour due to Kelly’s mental health concerns.

Kelly issued the following statement:

“I have cancelled the Mirrors for Psychic Warfare tour in November because of my mental illness. It has made my life unmanageable and I believe that touring will only make it worse as it has in the past. I apologize to everyone who worked to put this tour together and make it happen but I have decided at this point of my life that my mental health must be my priority.”

Mental illness is something that shouldn’t be overlooked at and should be taken seriously. Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter recently spoke to us about his battle with bipolar disorder as he released a documentary on his struggle, titled Down Again.

We hope Kelly uses this time to get the help that he needs and to remember that it is OK not to be OK.
