It’s a little surprising that Job For a Cowboy put out the excellent Sun Eater album in late 2014, only to not go on the road in support of it. Sure, there was the fact that their van caught on fire, which would potentially stop a band from touring, but the response from their label to Metal Sucks was that the band were “deep in day job land.” It looks like they’ve found some time to rekindle the touring fire (but hopefully not their van), because the band will be playing at least one show, at the Modified Ghost Festival in Vancouver, BC. That festival has a nicely-curated lineup that includes The Dillinger Escape Plan, Suffocation, Cattle Decaptiation, Anciients, Intronaut and more.
Interestingly enough, Metal Injection reports that Jon “Charn” Rice will be playing drums for JFAC. It will be his first time playing with the band since 2013, when he left to join Scorpion Child. It remains to be seen if this is only a one-off, but reforming for one show at a festival doesn’t seem all that likely. At the very least, at least we’ll finally get to see some music from Sun Eater live.
