Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has scrapped his recently announced North American solo tour. Taylor expressed on the trek, initially scheduled to kick off in February to focus on his mental and physical health. Taylor realized he needs to take some time to focus on his family. The statement was made yesterday (5th) via social media, with Taylor stating:
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming North American tour. For the past several months my mental and physical health have been breaking down, and I reached a place that was unhealthy for my family and I. I know this decision will come as a shock to some and may be regarded as unpopular by others – but after taking a hard look at where I am and where I was going, I need to pull myself back and be home with my family for the time being. Those of you who bought tickets and VIP packages for this upcoming run will get a full refund.
I send my love to the fans, my band, my family & friends, and everyone who’s helped me get here thus far. I promise I’m doing everything I can to be as healthy as I can be. Until then, my apologies to everyone we would have seen on the tour – and hopefully we’ll see you again down the line.”
The cancellation arrives less than one month after Taylor’s initial announcement, coinciding with the singer’s fiftieth birthday. The trek would have been the second leg following his fall 2023 tour supporting his sophomore solo album, CMF2.
Leaving 2023 behind
2023 was a busy year for the singer, which included news on his first movie scoring project. While he’s taking time to put his health first, we’re confident we will hear more about what Corey Taylor has to say as the year unfolds. Looking ahead, 2024 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Slipknot’s self-titled debut album. According to M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, the band has quite the plans that may involve performing the album in its entirety.
