rattplaneVeteran hair metal bands Ratt and Dokken escaped a Buddy Holly moment after a private plane chartered for their tour was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois, according to the Associated Press.

The bands were en route for a show in the Chicago suburb of Wauconda with Lita Ford, Sebastian Bach and Warrant. Chuck Brennan, a friend of the bands who made the travel arrangements, told the AP that the pilot made the landing after seeing smoke in the front of the plane. The bands were still able to make the performance, traveling by SUV to the venue from the landing site to come back for more, or back for the attack, if you will.
