As if music amphitheatres weren’t having a hard enough time maintaining revenue, Philadelphia’s Mann Center was robbed by two gunman earlier today. According to Philly.com, two men made off with more than $120,000 in catering proceeds. Catherine Cahill, the Mann’s president and CEO in a statement, confirmed the robbery and that no one was hurt. Police are still on the look out for these two gunman, who they believe escaped in a blue minivan outside the gate shortly before the robbery.
As you may know, Bram and I originally hail from the South Jersey area. Thus, Philadelphia has served as our home for concerts. Now the Mann Center normally doesn’t host too many metal events. In fact, the 14,000 seat venue serves as the Summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra when they don’t have pop or rock bands playing. Once in a while, though, the Mann Center will have some pretty cool acts grace its stage, including Faith No More last Summer. So while it’s unfortunate to hear this happening, we’re glad that no one was harmed or injured.
