God Is An Astronaut are celebrating their twentieth anniversary as they released a special live studio album, The Beginning of the End, this past Friday (15th) via Napalm Records. The Beginning Of The End was recorded at Windmill Lane Recording Studio in Dublin, Ireland, on October 3, 2021. It features modern transformations of all songs from their 2002 debut, The End Of The Beginning.
The band has unveiled a video for the oldest God Is An Astronaut track, “Route 666” as Torsten Kinsella explained:
“‘Route 666’ is the oldest God Is An Astronaut song. It was written in 1999 before God Is An Astronaut was formed. Initially Niels and I came up with the name / subject matter after watching US Televangelist Don Stewart pitching his green prosperity prayer handkerchief on the TV which we found obviously ludicrous, equally entertaining and humorous. Back in the early years when we would play “Route 666“ live we would use some old film clips from the 1968 Horror film “The Devil Rides out“. Needless to say the whole vibe was satirical.“
God Is An Astronaut have released a video for the song “In Flux.” The track is the fourth video taken from the group’s latest effort, Ghost Tapes #10. Watch the clip below: Want more God Is An Astronaut? Check out our interview with Torsten Kinsella here.
