It’s been a few months since we’ve heard anything about Temple Of The Black Moon, the supergroup featuring Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax/The Damned Things), King ov Hell (ex-Gorgoroth/Ov Hell) and John Tempesta (The Cult/White Zombie). Then again, they all have been pretty busy with their own bands (especially Caggiano with Anthrax). But thanks to NRK’s (Norway’s national radio station) show Pyro, we not only know more about the project but also have our first taste of music.
Pyro recently had the chance to talk with Caggiano, Filth, and Hell (aka Tom Cato Visnes) about Temple Of The Black Moon. Not only did they essentially conduct Temple Of The Black Moon’s first interview, but Pyro also were the first to premiere snippets of the song. You can hear samples of multiple songs throughout the five minute interview, audio of which can be heard over at Pyro’s website.
Of course, it’s hard to judge material based on samples. However, while it certainly sounds like a departure for everyone involved, you can also hear the influences from each member’s band. So to say the least, it sounds pretty rad and we’re definitely looking forward to hearing more.
When exactly we’ll hear more from Temple Of The Black Moon, though, is still uncertain. In the interview, the three stated that there are no concrete plans yet and that they’re in the process of “building their team.” However, keep in mind that each member, which apparently now also includes Enslaved’s Arve “Ice Dale” Isdal, also has their plate full with their own bands. But as Filth said, hopefully the Pyro interview will lead to more things happening for the supergroup sooner than later. Listen to the entire five minute interview, which includes the song samples, over at Pyro’s website.
