League of Distortion, the modern metal project led by Anna “Ace” Brunner on vocals, are set to release their second full-length album, Galvanize, on October 25 via Napalm Records. The sophomore record arrives after two years from their acclaimed self-titled debut album. Continuing with their brutal emotive approach, they mix a powerful message within their lyrics. Overall marking their unique approach experimenting with styles ranging from hard rock to rap with clean vocals mixed with steampunk synths.

The title track dynamically kicks off with an introduction reminiscent of futuristic films. Ace’s voice moves from distortion to superb power in a song where fast riffs and fast-paced percussion work in perfect cohesion. Following the same formula, “My Hate Will Go On” has an intense beginning with heavy momentum. Exploding further towards the middle, the song moves with a catchy chorus of contradictory optimism within an overall dark and emotive tune while sharing a raw message on life’s tribulations. “Chainsaw” enters like a discharge of nonconformity. Exploiting nü metal to the maximum, the song moves with surprising aggression elevating vocal qualities exploding in a notable growling at the end.

The lyrics of “Suck My Blood” leaves the nerves paralyzed. Accompanied by powerful instrumentation, feeling the agony of the story’s subtext and the heartbreaking fury of its narration. The industrial and somewhat synthesized sound of “My Enemy” gives impressive futuristic visualizations. “What’s Wrong With Her?” plays with the fusion of a rather sixties voice interrupted by the robotic murmur having an unexpected high-voltage ending. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most interesting compositions on the entire album.

The vocal game between Ace and Dominic Christoph of the band Cypecore in “In Our DNA” gives a touch of dark romanticism to the entire song, slightly leaving the musical constant in which the entire album has been channeled. The final songs of this full-length, “Crucify Me,” “Anti-Hero,” and “The Crown,” take up the semi-robotic-synthesized and powerful path of the compositions. The instrumental fusion between Jim “Arro” Müller on guitar, Felix “Ax” Rehmann on bass, and Tino “Aeon” Calmbach on drums plays a vital role throughout the entire album, giving different colors and making it compositionally even more attractive.

Galvanize is a set of intense statements shouted with fury from powerful vocals to aggressive instrumentation. Each track holds a life of its own with escalating intensity, maintaining attention throughout the entire album. Undoubtedly, it is an excellent advancement from their debut.
