Of all the current and former members of KISS, Ace Frehley has, at least musically, had the most successful solo career. His last album, Space Invader, debuted in the top ten, which was the highest charting solo album by a KISS member ever. The next release from Frehley will be a 12-song covers album titled Origins Vol. 1. This time out, he’s enlisted an all-star lineup to help out, including Slash, Lita Fored and members of Pearl Jam and Rob Zombie. But perhaps the biggest guest on the album, especially to KISS fans, is Paul Stanley, who teamed up with Ace for a cover of Free’s “Fire and Water.” Frehley, for his part, downplays the reunion with Stanley, the first time the two have appeared on an album together in 18 years:
We’ve always been friends. The press seems to amplify negativity. I guess it makes good copy.
Today via Rolling Stone, Frehley unveiled a cover of Cream’s “White Room,” which you can hear below. There are also three KISS covers, which Stanley doesn’t sing on, features on the album, “Parasite,” “Cold Gin” and “Rock and Roll Hell.” Frehley will be touring in support of the album, and you can see those tour dates below the song. Here’s the track listing:
1. “White Room” (Cream)
2. “Street Fighting Man” (Rolling Stones)
3. “Spanish Castle Magic,” feat. John 5 (Jimi Hendrix)
4. “Fire and Water,” feat. Paul Stanley (Free)
5. “Emerald,” Slash (Thin Lizzy)
6. “Bring It on Home” (Led Zeppelin)
7. “Wild Thing,” feat. Lita Ford (The Troggs)
8. “Parasite,” feat. John 5 (Kiss)
9. “Magic Carpet Ride” (Steppenwolf)
10. “Cold Gin,” feat. Mike McCready (Kiss)
11. “Till the End of the Day” (Kinks)
