Rotting Christ remain a staple in Greek melodic black metal, which continued to shine in 2019’s The Heretics. Now, five years later, the band has finally announced the long-awaited follow-up with Pro Xristoy (ΠΡΟ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥ). Despite the controversies surrounding their name, Sakis Tolis and his brother Themis have ascended to become one of Greece’s finest blackened metal acts. They are now celebrating 35 years of malevolent excellence with their upcoming fourteenth record.

True to their heretical roots, Pro Xristoy pays homage to the last of the Pagan kings, delivering towering, gothic, melodic black metal. Rotting Christ, now nearing four decades in the industry, defies expectations with an album, and this is one you don’t want to pass up on.

Set to release on May 24 via Season of Mist, Pro Xristoy marks a significant chapter in the band’s history. Stay tuned for more.

Sakis comments:

“This album was inspired by the might of ancient pagan wisdom. It’s a tribute to those who resisted the coming of Christianity, which destroyed all the values, traditions and knowledge of the ancient world.”
