Following the tragic passing of At The Gates frontman Tomas “Tompa” Lindberg on September 16th, his side project The Lurking Fear has announced an indefinite hiatus. The band has confirmed they are officially no more.

On Thursday (18th), the group issued the following statement:

“It is with heavy hearts that we must inform you that The great one, the master of the twisted tales and morbidity has departured from our world. His journey into nothingness fills our hearts with despair and sorrow.
Tomas Lindberg left us in solitude on the morning of september 16. The greatness of his spirit can not be mentioned too many times. With this said:
The Lurking Fear is no more!
Rest in power old friend! You are to be forever remembered!
”Can you hear the funeral hymn?
An ageless terror mad.
In blind delirium
Waiting for the living dead to ascend”

Formed in 2016 and inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the Swedish death metal act released two albums: Out of the Voiceless Grave (2017) and Death, Madness, Horror, Decay (2021).
