It’s a moment we hoped would never come. Today (22), the world of music stands still. The one and only Ozzy Osbourne, legendary voice of Black Sabbath, solo icon, has passed away at the age of 76.

The news was confirmed by the BBC, accompanied by a statement from his family:

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Ozzy’s death comes just weeks after his final live appearance, taking the stage one last time on July 5th, 2025 in Birmingham, England, the city where it all began, for a historic celebration titled Back to the Beginning. That day, he was honored by a generation of musicians who owe their legacy to his influence: Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Tool, Alice in Chains, and many more. From pioneering heavy metal with Black Sabbath to launching a wildly successful solo career, and later reinventing himself as a reality television star, Ozzy was never just an artist. He was unstoppable.

Despite a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease, Ozzy continued to defy expectations. His health often made headlines, yet he recorded two solo albums after his 2020 diagnosis and ultimately performed one last time, closing the curtain on his own terms. He was a father, a husband, a friend, and a symbol to all of us. Ozzy’s loss will echo across generations.

We will share more as this story develops. But for now, we mourn. Ozzy’s eyes are closed forever, but his music lives on. It’s time to revisit the immortal sound of the Prince of Darkness.

Rest in power, Ozzy.
