Guitarist Nita Strauss is on to the “next adventure.”
Following her latest run with Alice Cooper’s band in Europe, Strauss has announced that she will not be joining them for the next leg of the tour and will be canceling her upcoming solo festival dates as well.
Wrote Strauss in a post to her social media,
“After this absolutely incredible run in Europe, it is bittersweet for me to let you guys know that I will not be joining the Alice Cooper band for the upcoming fall tour. I will also regretfully have to cancel the festival dates my solo band had planned for the rest of the year ”
Strauss doesn’t want fans to worry though. While she might be canceling dates, she has some new opportunities that will keep her on the road. Said Strauss,
“I AM NOT PREGNANT!!! There is no drama whatsoever and my touring year is still VERY full- in fact, I’m on a flight straight into the next adventure as I post this, and I’ll be on stage again much sooner than you think! But that’s news for another day.”
She concludes her statement by thanking Cooper and the fans for the years of support.
“The past eight years together has been the experience of a lifetime, and I could not be more grateful to Alice and Sheryl Cooper, Shep Gordon, the amazing band, crew and fans for welcoming me to all of your nightmare. I don’t know what the future will hold after this, but I am forever thankful.”
Alice Cooper has shown much praise for Strauss over the years. Earlier this month, he extolled her abilities to Rolling Stone Germany, calling her a “total shredder; she could really shred with the best of them.”
Her bandmates have also been supportive of her career and decision to leave. Wrote fellow guitarist Ryan Roxie, “No words – just notes …and lord knows we harmonized A LOT of them over the years …nothing but ❤️and respect ✊.” Drummer Glen Sobel commented, “You’re super pro and prepared no matter what the situation. We’re gonna miss you but we’re also proud to be associated with Hurricane.”
Cooper will be kicking off the North American leg of his Detroit Muscle tour (albeit without Strauss) on September 7 in Bethlehem, PA and run through October 8 in Las Vegas, NV. Tickets can be found here.
