According to NBC, Los Angeles, Thrash metal legends Metallica are suing Lloyds of London for failing to provide coverage for their South American tour that was cancelled due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. April 2020 was the initial plan when Metallica would perform six shows across South America, including gigs in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. The world-famous insurer claims that events cancelled due to communicable disease are not covered and therefore refused any monies to be paid to the band for losses associated with the cancellations.

Metallica is alleging that Lloyds of London is in breach of contract. The lawsuit calls the move “an unreasonably restrictive interpretation of the policy.” The group is currently seeking unspecified compensatory damages and a declaration of the rights and obligations of the parties.
