Wildfires continue to ravage Los Angeles, threatening landmarks like the Hollywood Bowl and disrupting daily life. The Sunset Fire, one of five major blazes, erupted in the Hollywood Hills near the Hollywood Bowl, Walk of Fame, and Hollywood Sign, prompting evacuations. The Bowl’s staff safely evacuated, expressing gratitude to firefighters battling the flames. Out of caution, venues on the Sunset Strip, such as Whisky a Go Go and the Troubadour, have canceled their shows with an intention to reopen on Friday (10).
At the time of writing this, the fires have claimed five lives, destroyed over 2,000 structures, and forced over 130,000 residents to evacuate, including areas like Pacific Palisades and Altadena. The Palisades Fire has burned around 17,000 acres, making it LA’s most destructive fire. The Eaton Fire has scorched over 10,600 acres and threatens 13,000 buildings.
Schools across the Los Angeles Unified School District remain closed, with two in the Palisades destroyed. Pasadena issued a warning against using tap water due to debris contamination, advising residents to rely on bottled water. Firefighters face challenging conditions with strong winds and low humidity, though easing winds have allowed aerial support to resume.
Reported via CNN, and their live updates, here are the Fire statuses as of 1:30 AM EST:
Palisades Fire: At least 15,832 acres, 0% contained
Eaton Fire: At least 10,600 acres, 0% contained

Editor’s Note:
California has endured a series of devastating disasters in recent years, and the challenges continue to mount. With many already struggling to find work following the Writers’ and Actors’ strikes, the rebuilding process for the film and music industries was just beginning. The full extent of how these wildfires will further impact these industries remains uncertain. Beyond the entertainment world, our thoughts are with everyone affected by these wildfires, and we extend our deepest sympathies to all who are facing such hardship.
Structures, historical landmarks, and homes have been destroyed. While rebuilding is possible, it will take time. The priority now is ensuring everyone’s safety. If you are in an evacuation zone, please evacuate immediately.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected. This is a tremendous hardship and a tough way to begin 2025. We remain committed to supporting and helping however we can during this challenging time.
Members of the metal community and rock world have either lost their homes, evacuated, or expressed their concerns via social media. Check out the few we collected below:
I’ve lived in So Cal most of my life, I almost lost my house to fires twice. Seeing and hearing about what’s going on there now is just terrible. I’ve got a lot of friends evacuated right now and I’m thinking about all of you. The firefighters are amazing and I hope everyone…

No words for the devastation in LA. I have so many friends there. Spend so much time there for work and recreation. Just beyond belief what is happening. Reaching out to as many as I can. Thankfully most okay, some evacuated. Just awful. Thinking of everyone in S CA. Stay safe!

When there is a disaster. It doesn’t matter in moment whose fault it is. You just have to worry about fixing the problem as it stands and saving lives. When the dust settles, you can argue over who is culpable.
If you live in the blame mindset and use events like this to push…

This is what it looks like when your city is burning. It is like the sky is bruised and battered. I am heartbroken for all the Angelenos who lost their homes overnight. Nerdville is holding for the moment but as we know all it takes is one spark or insidious act to create… pic.twitter.com/vZcgtSmHb0
