There has now been confirmation that new music from Guns N’ Roses is in the works. According to Susan Holmes McKagan, wife of bassist Duff McKagan, the band is “working fastidiously” on a new album.

Speaking to the Appetite For Distortion podcast to promote her recently released debut novel, ‘The Velvet Rose,’ Holmes McKagan divulged:

“I will say GN’R have been working fastidiously on killer new stuff. And I can’t say much, but I’ve heard bits and bobs and it’s pretty epic. I do wanna spread the good news, but not detailed news, I guess.”

Rumors have been circulating about new music from Guns N’ Roses ever since the three “classic line-up” members (vocalist Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and McKagan) reunited for the “Not In This Lifetime” tour in 2016. Slash has hinted that something could be in the works, but has stopped short of confirming anything outright. Back in September, the guitarist told ‘Trunk Nation’ that songwriting was the band’s focus going forward and that if they release something, it will be a full album rather than a series of singles.

Guns N’ Roses released their last album, Chinese Democracy, in 2008, when Rose was the only “classic” member. The last release to feature the “classic line-up” trio was their 1993 covers album ‘The Spaghetti Incident?’ Slash left the band in 1996 and McKagan followed in 1997.

The Guns N’ Roses reunion has been very successful. Running from April 2016 until November 2019, the “Not In This Lifetime” tour took in more than $563.3 million, making it the third highest-grossing tour in history.

While we now know that there is new Guns N’ Roses music in the works, there is no word yet on when that music will be released.
