Exodus and Slayer shredder Gary Holt has put down the drink. Yesterday (15th), the guitarist announced he quit alcohol via Instagram.

Holt explained:

“Day one for me, here I go. This last year has been one in which I’ve come to realize the drinking needs to go. Been a long party for me but it doesn’t feel like a party anymore. I’m not perfect and the booze has crept up on me. Here’s to feeling clear and lucid from here on out”.

The longtime Exodus guitarist Joined Slayer full time in 2013 and, to this day, still remains a member of Exodus. At 57 years old, the metal veteran recalls his wife Lisa’s decision to quit drinking alcohol 7 months ago. She credits him with “making her want to be a better person.”
