A dump truck slammed into the iconic The Whisky a Go-Go in West Hollywood on Friday (9), crashing into five vehicles and a power line before hitting the venue around 1:45 p.m. The impact knocked out power in the area and led to the closure of Sunset Blvd and Clark Street by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. That evening’s scheduled show featuring Boy Hits Car, Barefoot in the Bathroom, and Gearheart was canceled as a result. While the Whisky has yet to issue an official statement, its calendar suggests upcoming events remain on schedule.

Boy Hits Car issued the following statement:

“Well… that was wild. Yesterday, just hours before we were set to headline at the legendary Whisky A Go-Go, a dump truck crashed into the venue. Our show was unfortunately canceled as a result, but the scene quickly turned surreal. ABC7 & KCAL News stations were there on the spot, and next thing you know, we’re doing interviews for TV instead of soundcheck. We’re grateful no one was seriously hurt and appreciate everyone who showed concern, or tuned in. It wasn’t the night we planned, but it sure was memorable. Stay tuned—we’ll be back, and louder than ever.”
