Cattle Decapitation bassist Derek Engemann leaves band, reforms Cast the Stone

After eight years, Cattle Decapitation bassist Derek Engemann has decided to leave the band. Yesterday (25), he shared the following statement:

“It’s been a great journey, but I’m writing to let everyone know I have amicably parted ways with Cattle Decapitation. I’m very proud of the success we achieved together across the last two albums. In turn, I’m excited to focus my energy on the next upcoming Scour release, my reignited project Cast the Stone (HUGE news in the coming days), and the other big plans I have in the works. Thank you to everyone for the support, and I’ll see you at NAMM!”

Today (26th), it’s been revealed that Engemann has reunited with the death/black metal act Cast the Stone and the group has signed a deal with Agonia Records. It’s been nine years since the group released 2009’s EP The Setting Sun and now, they are ready to release new music later this year.

The group commented:

“With Agonia Records at the helm, and the sheer pedigree of our membership in Cast The Stone (Misery Index, Scour, Cattle Decapitation), we promise a stellar conjuring of darkness, and a steadfast willingness to churn limitless blackened hymns into the widening gyre.”
