Remember how Mutiny Within decided to go on an “indefinite hiatus” following vocalist Chris Clancy and keyboardist Drew Stavola’s departures? Well it didn’t take long for the NJ prog-metalcore group to regroup, at least for one more album.

Last week, Mutiny Within confirmed plans to release their second album Synchronicity. To go along with the announcement, the band also released a YouTube clip (see above)of samples from the finished product. So does this mean that Mutiny Within are back for good? Well, not exactly. Clancy, who returned to finish these demos for the next album, gave the following explanation via Facebook regarding the band’s status early last month:

“Mutiny Within isn’t back together. There won’t be any tours or shows as we live in different countries. Everyone has moved on with their lives now. It is, however, great to be putting out music again. There may be more music after this if it goes well and people want it. I won’t rule that out.”

He also gave further clarification during an interview with AFGM, saying that “It’s essentially the old lineup but without Drew. We’re just doing it in our spare time.”  While it’s unclear as to when Synchronicity will be released, Clancy also confirmed via a Facebook comment that it’ll be a digital release only.

While it’s still a shame that they never broke big following the release of their 2010 self-titled album, it’s great to hear that the book on Mutiny Within hasn’t been closed for good. While the Synchronicity sampler can be heard above, two demos from the second album’s writing sessions (which were released earlier this year and will appear on the new album) can be heard after the jump.
