If you are a fan of Nile then you know how busy drummer, George Kollias, is. Somehow in the spare time that he has, Kollias has recorded a new solo side project that will give you more than enough of a fix till a new Nile release. The self-taught, online drum teaching, master of the double bass is releasing his debut solo project May 19 titled, Invictus, through Season of Mist.
Regarding the new album, Kollias had this to say, “This solo project contains exactly what the word ‘solo’ describes: one musician writing all music and lyrics as well as performing all the instruments, while inviting some guests to join.”
Not only is Kollias tearing his drum set apart as usual, but he is taking the term solo project seriously. Kollias recorded all the instruments for this album himself showing off all aspects of his musical talent. Invictus will feature guest appearances from members of Nile, Rotting Christ and Firewind as well.
Kollias also added, “”This album is not only about drums, although I made sure that my drumming is absolutely out of control. It is all about music and that is it. I have made my solo record with a lot of passion and dedication for all the fans out there and I feel blessed to have some of my best friends appearing as guests on it.”
