Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

As you’ve no doubt read by now, Jill Janus of Huntress died by suicide last week. I’m only a casual Huntress fan, but reading that headline was enough to elicit a shocked “What?! No way.” from me. Suicide is always a tragic thing, but it’s especially tragic when committed by the young. And make no mistake: at age 43, spearheading a band that hasn’t even been around ten years, Janus was young. This is the part where I tell you that if you have mental health issues don’t be afraid to reach out, but while that’s an important message to communicate an even more important one is to watch out for each other. People with mental illness won’t always reach out, so make sure you reach out to them if you think they’re in trouble. You don’t have to be a knight in shining armor and you don’t have to try and single-handedly “fix them”. Just be there.

Alright, that’s enough of the heavy stuff. Time for some different heavy stuff.
