At the beginning of the year, Jason Newsted impressed many with the debut EP of his aptly named solo project, Newsted. Now it appears that the former Metallica bassist’s group has another familiar face in its ranks: Staind guitarist Mike Mushok.
Newsted introduced Mushok as the new guy in the band via a webisode posted online earlier (which can be seen below). The video also includes footage of the (now) quartet playing together in their rehearsal space. To be honest, we’re a little surprised to see the guitarist of Staind in this project. Nothing against Mushok’s main band, but the Metal EP is far heavier than almost everything Staind has released. Still, the video shows Mushok can hold his own. Apparently we can also look forward to Newsted’s full-length debut this summer.
Mushok will make his debut with Newsted during the group’s European trek. Watch Newsted’s webisode introducing the guitarist into the band (as well as their European dates) below.
