Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Was there ever a Rob Zombie album where he didn’t have a menacing look on his face under a tangled mass of hair? You know, as if he’s trying to say “Look at my beard. It will kill you. Literally kill you.” Guess not. Anyway, our top debut for this week is Rob Zombie, whose album made its way into the top 10. There hasn’t been much else regarding debuts except for album from one of two bands named Queensryche. Care to guess which one?

Notable Debuts:

Rob Zombie, Venemous Rat Regeneration Vendor (T-Boy/UMe) #7, 34,450 sold

Rob Zombie’s latest album is our top debut for the week. The album came out only a few days after his new movie The Lords of Salem and soon he’ll embark on Mayhem Fest this summer as the headliner. As Rob himself would say, “yeeeah!”

Queensryche, Frequency Unknown (Cleopatra) #74, 5,500 sold

Better known as the album with the least subtle album art ever, Geoff Tate’s version of Queensryche gets started on the charts. It’s not as much as the last few Queensryche albums have sold, but we’ll have to see how the other Queensryche does next month when it comes out.

Heaven & Earth, Dig (Quarto Valley) 440 sold

A hard rock album featuring members of Sweet and Quiet Riot. You know, in case you were looking for something like that.

Notable Sales:

Volbeat, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies (Universal Republic) #50, 7,500 sold

Even with a 43% drop, this album will likely stick around like its predecessor.

Device, Device (Warner Bros.) #70, 5,675 sold

Even since it debuted, this record has similar sales to…

Stone Sour, House of Gold & Bones Part 2 (Roadrunner) #72, 5,600 sold

And both have sold over 50,000. Birds of  feather as they say. A really metal feather.

Killswitch Engage, Disarm The Descent (Roadrunner) #83, 4,925 sold

Sales are still going well for Killswitch.

Ghost B.C., Infestissumam (Loma Vista/Republic) #86, 4,700 sold

Just as we supposed, this album gets a 67% drop in its second week. Still doing pretty well, though.

Bring Me The Horizon, Sempiternal (Epitaph) #92, 4,300 sold

Just under 45,000 total sales for this album, which is at the same chart position as last week.

Various Artists, Rock of Ages Soundtrack (Water Tower Music/Warner Bros.) #121, 3,375 sold

Fun fact: The actual song “Rock of Ages” is not in the musical because Universal didn’t grant it licenses for the song. Probably for the best.

Halestorm, The Strange Case Of… (Atlantic) #125, 3,275 sold

A total of 215,000 sold. That’s not so strange.

Kid Rock, Rebel Soul (Atlantic) #132, 3,100 sold

A 22% drop in sales isn’t so soulful.

Shinedown, Amaryllis (Atlantic) #136, 2,950 sold

A 19% boost brings this album closer to the 400,000 mark.

In This Moment, Blood (Century Media) #168, 2,300 sold

Just under 150,000 sold after 35 weeks.

Sevendust, Black Out The Sun (7brothers) #169, 2,300 sold

This album will be blacked out of the top 200 in a few weeks if it drops any lower.

Various Artists, Sound City: Real to Reel (RCA) #170, 2,300 sold

I could make more “reel” jokes, but I bet those are getting reely annoying.

Black Veil Brides, Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones (Lava/Universal Republic) #174, 2,025 sold

Just under 100,000 sold for these wild ones.

Bullet For My Valentine, Temper Temper (RCA) #193, 2,000 sold

This has sold almost 95,000 in total and might sell more with some touring magic.

Otherwise, True Love Never Dies (Century Media) 790 sold

Another increase of 14% brings this album closer to crossing the 40,000 mark.

Fit For A KingCreation/Destruction (Tooth & Nail) 630 sold

A 26% boost seems a bit more fit for a king.

Terror, Live By the Code (Victory) 540 sold

Does the code say anything about a 53% drop in sales?

Crown The Empire, The Fallout (Rise) 430 sold

A tiny 5% boost for the empire.

Anciients, Heart of Oak (Season of Mist) 390 sold

I’ve been searching for a heart of oak.

Within The Ruins, Elite (eOne) 360 sold

Nearly 9,500 sold? Not bad.

The Bunny The Bear, Stories (Victory) 320 sold

I bet this album can’t bear a 67% drop. Don’t look at me like that, that’s the correct usage of the word “bear”.

Woe, Is Me, Genesi[s] (Rise) 290 sold

After a week of absence, the band that doesn’t like the letter s still clings to the charts.

Amaranthe, Nexus (Spinefarm) 290 sold

A 21% drop this week for they symphonic metallers.

Suffocation,  Pinnacle of Bedlam (Nuclear Blast) 360 sold

Over 8,500 sold in 10 weeks.

Flotsam And Jetsam, Ugly Noise (Metal Blade) 280 sold

These are some ugly sales.
