This album is essentially the sonic expression of a feverish, gothic novella written by someone who insists they don’t believe in vampires but secretly hopes they’re wrong. The Dreaming Prince in Ecstasy is decadent, nocturnal, and weirdly romantic—black metal filtered through a velvet curtain of theatrical self-mythology. Lamp of Murmur treats aesthetics as a form of magic, and the result feels like wandering through a dream where every shadow is sentient, and every riff is simultaneously seductive and hostile.
