While Roadrunner is still a strong label in it’s own right, a pair of former executives have continued to recruit bands that had been on the label to their current labels. We’ve seen that happen at Nuclear Blast, where Monte Conner has signed more than a handful of bands once on Roadrunner (Fear Factory, Machine Head). It’s also happening at Spinefarm, under label president Jonas Nachsin, who was also president at Roadrunner. 36 Crazyfists, who began their career on the label, have their debut coming out next month on the label, and they announced today that they’ve signed Airbourne.

The Australian band formed in 2003 and have released three albums on Roadrunner, the most recent being 2013’s Black Dog Barking. And while the band’s straightforward rock sound has been compared to fellow Aussies AC/DC, no less than AC/DC’s Angus Young mentioned them in an interview as a band he really likes.

The band commented on their signing:

“We’re pumped up to have signed on the dotted line to the world’s toughest and truest hard rock label, Spinefarm. We have worked with some of the guys on this team in the past, and we’re extremely confident about having each other’s back in the trenches for many hard rockin’ years to come. We’re chompin’ at the bit to get ROCKIN’ and KICKIN’ ARSE in 2015 and beyond.” – CHEERS from AIRBOURNE.

Airbourne’s fourth album will be out later this year.
