Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s newest column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with Sovereign Council as the entire group joined together to introduce us to their pets.

Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?

Chris: Eve is an 11-year-old Ball Python.  She’s very curious and explorative.

Lisa & Joe: One year ago we adopted a 3-year-old Boxer/Pitbull mix dog called Lola.  She is high-energy, super affectionate with an immense amount of cheeky attitude.  We are completely in love with her.

Shaun: Princess is a grey tabby who my fiancé had long before I met her. She’s an “I’ll come to you when I want attention” cat but we love her and she sleeps with us at night. Theodore is a massive orange tabby that whether you want him on top of you or not he’s there.  He’s a very affectionate cat who loves to cuddle. Charlie is our 5-month-old French bulldog who is very smart and quite the character! He’s a puppy with attitude but loves to cuddle up for a nap on the couch whenever possible.

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?

Chris:  No, Eve would not do very well with the stress of touring.

Lisa & Joe: Lola would probably be thrilled to go on tour and sniff all the new smells but we wouldn’t want to put her through all that stress.  She doesn’t like loud music.

Shaun: I wouldn’t want to take the zoo with me, besides they’re completely fine staying with my two girls.

Who looks after your pet while on the road?

Chris: Eve is able to hang out on her own for extended periods of time.  I just feed her before I leave and make sure she has plenty of water.

Lisa & Joe: We have family and friends that look after her when we need to be out on the road.

Shaun: Family and friends always welcome these living fur balls.

What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?

Chris:  Eve loves Gojira.  She always comes out of her cave when Gojira is playing.

Lisa: Lola does not like most music especially if it’s loud.  She tolerates classical guitar or piano when I’m cooking…but it’s probably because she smells the food.

Shaun: If I break out Chris Brown it’s nothing but a dance-off in here! Metal is constantly playing in the background (I think they just put up with it!)

How did you introduce your pet to metal?

Chris: All kinds of music are playing at any given time in my home.  Eve has been exposed to just about every genre there is.

Lisa & Joe: We have our band practices in our house so Lola’s first Metal music encounter was a live rehearsal.

What animal charity means most to you?

Chris: Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre.

Lisa: “I am alive” Dog rescue in Brockville, Ontario

Shaun: Sandy Pines Wildlife Center has done a lot for the community

Thank you for the interview! Brandon was away for work but he was able to send us some photos of him with his pets!
