Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s newest column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with Hunting Giants as their pets are named after Ozzy Osbourne, Periphery, and Freddie Mercury.

Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?
My cat’s name is Freddie Mercury because she never stops mewing. Misha, my dog, is perhaps named for Periphery’s Misha Mansoor? Ozz, our bloodhound mastiff is named for the Prince of Darkness himself.

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?
We have taken Ozz on tour to the islands of British Columbia. He is quite the hit at every show.

Who looks after your pet while on the road?
We have family who is ready to take in our pets when we are going on the road.

What’s your pet’s favourite song or album?
We have a secret track on our album, recorded only with dog whistles.  You may not hear it, but they do.

How did you introduce your pet to metal?

The day Misha came home, I played a full set for her and it enticed the beast to slumber.

What animal charity means most to you?

The Rescue Animal MP3 Project, launched by a holistic veterinarian, brings soothing music into shelters nationwide, calming even the most anxious, stressed-out dogs.
