Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s newest column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with Ariyan from Hog Meets Frog as he reveals his cats dig Imperial Triumphant and Behemoth.

Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?

Yeah, so I got two young cats. Twin sisters that go by ‘Fear’ and ‘Loathing’.. and yeah, I love them to death.

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?

Umm no. Doesn’t work that well with cats. And if our indie tour budget would allow it, we’d rather take a person for sound or merch before I take my pets ^^.

Who looks after your pet while on the road?

That’d be my awesome girlfriend. It’s always kinda painful/stressful to leave your pets behind for work/tour over some days, and my cats do behave more isolated when I’m away. But thankfully my girl makes sure they not only get fresh food and water every day but also cuddles and interaction and all that good stuff.

What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?

I think actually silence xD they listened to a lot of ‘Ulcerate’ and ‘Imperial Triumphant’ in the first couple weeks of their lives at my place, so I guess that got them accustomed to metal pretty quick. Also, there’s this one song off of Behemoth’s ‘Evangelion’ LP called ‘he who breeds pestilence’ which starts off with some crow calls. That always seems to get their attention.

How did you introduce your pet to metal?

My cats were pretty paranoid and scared of every little sound at first. So I was actually listening to stuff at super low volumes. With some time their volume tolerance went up.. by now, they chill on my amp or drum carpet whenever I record or jam at home.

What animal charity means most to you?

Hmm, I’d just say support your local animal shelter. Either provide a home and love for one of their animals in need. Or just subscribe to their stuff and they’ll most definitely let you know if you can help somehow.
