Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s newest column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with Category VI’s Amanda Marie Jackman as she revealed her cat loves Black Sabbath.

Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names

My pet is a handsome, orange Tabby cat, named Fozzy Fuzzbourne. His name is affectionately inspired by Ozzy Osbourne and Fozzy Bear from the Muppets.

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?

I would definitely take Fozzy on tour! Ahaha. We have never been on a tour (yet)but if there were an opportunity, he would be coming with me!

Who looks after your pet while on the road?

We haven’t toured yet! But I would say my dad would hook him up!

What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?

He LOVES Black Sabbath (for obvious reasons) and he’s been rocking out to our latest album, FIRECRY!

How did you introduce your pet to metal?

I call Fozzy “my pandemic baby,” as this is when we got him! During this time, we were home a lot, and I spun a lot of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, so he’s been raised on metal since day one!

What animal charity means most to you?

In Newfoundland, where our band is from, there are a bunch of amazing organizations near & dear to my heart. Heavenly Creatures is a no-kill animal rescue organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and the finding of homes for unwanted and abandoned animals in Newfoundland and Labrador. They attempt to reach goals in an environment that promotes compassion for animals, cooperation between various rescue organizations, and general public understanding and awareness of animal issues in the province. They have saved so many homeless, abused and abandoned animals in our beautiful province, and I support/donate to the whenever I can!  It costs close to $300,000 annually for Heavenly Creatures to operate and the charity receives NO government funding; it exists only because of donations and fundraising efforts.

Veterinary care is seemingly always the biggest expense for these helpless animals.
