Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s ongoing column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with Jupiter Cyclops as they reveal their pets, living and beyond, enjoy(ed) Iron Maiden, and blackened doom.

Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?

Dustin: I had a dog names Babes. She was Jack Russel Terrier and Chihuahua mix. She was the best.
Aaron: I have 2 dogs currently, but soon to be 3. I have a Llewellyn Setter named Mabel and a Bicon Frise Toy Poodle mix named Lady Doom.

Have you ever taken your pet on tour?

Dustin: I have not.
Aaron: No way, that would not go over well on the road, but I do miss them when I am gone.  Having to stop for shitting and dog walks would make touring with them painful.

Who looks after your pet while on the road?

Dustin:  Usually my parents.
Aaron: My family would be watching them at home.

What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?

Dustin: She loved Iron Maiden
Aaron: Lady Doom thinks she’s a real badass for a 10 pound dog. I think she likes blackened doom or bands like Conan, Melvins. I actually thought about using her as an album cover with fake blood all over her face.

How did you introduce your pet to metal?

Dustin:  I play it all the time in the house, so she had no choice but to listen.
Aaron: Yeah, same. I play guitar every day in the house and jam the vinyl often. They’ve been listening since they were puppies.

What animal charity means most to you?

Dustin: ASPCA and local shelters.Yeah, also small shelters and volunteers that foster dogs. We are getting our new addition to the pack from a foster.
