Anyone that’s caught comedian Jim Breuer live in concert or heard him on a radio show has undoubtedly been impressed by his impressions of Metallica’s James Hetfield, Rob Halford and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson. As far back as 2013, he’s been talking about coming out with a metal album. In fact, in an interview with Metal Insider back then, he said that he hoped to get Ozzy, Hetfield, Halford and Johnson on the album. Well it’s 2015 now, and he’s still not done with the album, but he did confirm today on SiriusXM’s Opie and Jim Norton Show that at least one of them will be appearing on the album. He told the hosts that Johnson not only confirmed an appearance on the album, but has already recorded his spot.
In a clip from the show, Breuer does a spot-on imitation of Johnson’s accent, talking about easy it was to work with him. Apparently, Johnson stood in the engineering room with a microphone like it was a live concert, as opposed to isolating himself in a vocal booth with headphones on. Breuer says that he’s got six songs recorded for the album so far. It’s not certain if “Santa Claus Ain’t Coming to Town,” an earlier song that we premiered in 2013, is one of those songs on the album. Also uncertain is when the album will come out and what label it will be released on. However, he did shout out Brian Slagel and Metal Blade Records during the interview, so seeing the label that released albums from like-minded metal-friendly comedians Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine put out Breuer’s album doesn’t seem like that much of a stretch.
