The Safety Fire guitarist Derya “Dez” Nagle is lucky to be alive following an accident a few days ago. The technical progressive band, whose sophomore album Mouth of Swords will be out in September, stated the following: “The lid himself, your boy playgle aka Dezzo, was in a road accident last night. He is going to have to undergo surgery soon to fix his face and teeth, so send him some love. Fortunately his wizard fingers are fine, so while his face may not be quite as pretty, it won’t effect any of our tour dates.”
Dez himself wrote about his injury immediately following the accident on his Twitter account. “Wear a helmet. Ambulance please come,” he stated while tweeting a picture of his face. He tweeted the above picture later, stating “now I look like Andrew WK.” Finally giving clarity to exactly what happened, yesterday, he wrote the following:
Thanks to everyone for their support and concern over the last couple of days. Unfortunately I was involved in a cycling accident and landed on the right side of my face. I had my first surgery today and will be having a few more over the coming weeks. Few weeks of rest and all will be well. Albeit with a few more scars.
It’s good to know that the band won’t be missing any tour dates. Mouth of Swords will be out on September 3rd via InsideOut. Their tour with Between the Buried and Me, The Faceless and The Contortionist starts on September 13. You can see the dates here.
