Queensryche are planning something special for their upcoming performance on the ShipRocked Cruise. The Seattle prog rockers will be performing their classic concept album Operation: Mindcrime in its entirety aboard the hard rock themed cruise. For those unfamiliar with the 1988 album’s plot, the story follows the character Nikki as he becomes the brainwashed assassin of Dr. X. As his friendship with Sister Mary flourishes, he starts to question his actions. When he attempts to escape Dr. X’s control, he is framed for the murder of Mary and others.
The band has performed both Operation: Mindcrime and its sequel (2006’s Operation: Mindcrime II) in their entirety before. However, In This Moment’s Maria Brink will be performing with Queensryche on the cruise as Sister Mary (originally performed by Pamela Moore). This may actually be the most metal thing to happen to Queensryche in a long time (seriously, did you hear Dedicated To Chaos?). Plus, we’re always cool with the band performing this classic album live.
In addition to Queensryche and In This Moment, the ShipRocked Cruise will include performances from Buckcherry, Hellyeah, Hinder, Sevendust, Candle Box, Living Color, Filter, Another Animal, Broken Teeth, Lynam, 3 Pill Morning, and Cage9. Check out ShipRocked’s official website for more information on the cruise, which sets sail on November 14.
