Most fans remember the late Peter Steele, who passed away over a year ago, as the voice of Type O Negative and Carnivore. However, many may not realize that the vocalist/bassist was a nature lover. In fact, Steele actually worked for the Parks Department as a supervisor before Type O Negative took off.
And it’s with that in mind that fans launched a Facebook group called “Peter’s Tree” dedicated to planting a tree at Prospect Park in Brooklyn in honor of the late frontman. And this past Monday (November 21), the oak tree dedicated to Steele was planted. It’s a fitting tribute to Steele and shows how much of an impact he’s made in the metal scene. You can check out more photos from the ceremony (including the one off to the side) at the “Peter’s Tree” Facebook group.
