Screen Shot 2013-09-03 at 9.53.41 PMMeet Richard Dameron. You might not know the guy, but if you live in Cleveland, there’s a good chance you’ll see him this week. That’s because the 58 year-old has been sentenced in a very public way for calling 911 while drunk. For the last two days, and for the rest of the week, you’ll be able to see Dameron outside Cleveland’s Second District police station wearing a sign that proclaims “I apologize to officer Simone & all police officers for being an idiot calling 911 threatening to kill you. I’m sorry and it will never happen again.”

It all started when Dameron, who spent his first day of punishment wearing an AC/DC shirt, got drunk one night and called 911. Apparently, his emergency was being a dumbass, as he threatened to kill police officers, which is never a good idea. After missing his first court date due to not having a ride, judge Pinkey Carr ordered him to hold the sign for a week. He agreed with the judge’s assessment, telling TV station WKYC that he and his friends were “rambling, acting like fools.” The New York Daily News mentions that this isn’t the first time Carr has offered someone to wear a sign proclaiming themselves an idiot. She did the same thing last November to someone that passed a school bus on the sidewalk. Along with his public shaming, Dameron will also serve 90 days in jail. He’d be advised not to listen to ’74 Jailbreak before heading there.
