Last week, we posted video footage of a seig-heiling skinhead getting his ass kicked onstage at a New York Dropkick Murphys show by the band’s bassist, with the band then stating that “Nazis are not welcome at Dropkick Murphys shows.” That clip went viral, appearing on mainstream media websites in addition to the punk rock ones the band usually gets coverage on. And while most people that saw the clip reacted the right way (by basically saying “way to go, Dropkick Murphys, that racist piece of shit got what he deserved”), some didn’t react the same way.
The band revealed an email they’d received on their Twitter account that would definitely constitute a threat. “Fuck Drop Kick Murphy’s,” the email reads. “You fucking interracial communist faggots. Be careful in Australia because there is plenty of neo nazis in Australia who would love to kick your ass, watch out Zionists.” It makes sense that a neo nazi would write this, in that the writer spells the band’s name wrong and isn’t able to string together two sentences without a grammatical error. According to Gawker, the band haven’t made a statement about Terminal 5 or their thoughts on whether they’d be hiring additional security for their five-day Australian run of shows, which starts on Saturday.
