Why should major label bands be the only ones who get love? Unsigned & Streamed is a new column where we stream a song from an unsigned band we at Metal Insider really dig.

This week we proudly shine a light on the almighty MaelstroM. The Long Beach, NY cinematic metal trio actually first formed in the 80’s. However, MaelstroM reformed after a decade apart and haven’t looked back since. And though they’ve done little touring, their three song EP It Was Predestined gained attention from many since its release in 2008, having been named Terrorizer Magazine’s #2 unsigned metal band a few years back. MaelstroM’s unique blend of aggressive thrash and fantasy themed imagery will please any type of metal fan, whether you’re into old school Overkill or Viking metal. So without further ado, give the song “Predestined” a listen in the stream below.

Since releasing It Was Predestined in 2008, the band has been attempting to finish their first full length album, but have been delayed by various setbacks. However, the band hopes to complete the album and release it soon. You can download the three song EP It Was Predestined for free over at their Bandcamp page, while you can keep up to date on everything regarding MaelstroM via their official website, Facebook, and Twitter.

If you’re in an unsigned band and would like to participate in Unsigned & Streamed, email a link to your band’s music and a brief bio to tips [at] metalinsider.com for consideration.
