Unsigned & Streamed: Dystrophy

Posted by on August 24, 2011

Why should major label bands be the only ones who get love? Unsigned & Streamed is a new column where we stream a song from an unsigned band we at Metal Insider really dig.

This week, we’re proud to put the spotlight on New Brunswick, NJ’s own Dystrophy. Since forming in 2007, the quartet has self-released two EPs and their debut full length Chains Of Hypocrisy (which came out last Summer). Our buds at Metal Sucks described Dystrophy’s sound as “If Machine Head made love to Atheist and popped out a Dying Fetus, it might sound like these Dirty Jer-Z-ers.” And we quiet agree. Dystrophy show great promise with their blend of technical thrash and melodic death metal. So go ahead and listen to the song “Zero Sum” (which features guest vocals from Dethroned Emperor drummer Tom Murphy) down below.

Dystrophy is currently putting the finishing touches on a split EP with Dethroned Emperor called New Brunswick Death Metal Alliance Vol. 1, expected to be released this Fall. You can hear more music from Dystrophy at their Bandcamp page, and can buy physical copies here. To keep up to date on their upcoming plans, you can check out their Facebook page.
