3) Megadeth, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying
Thrash metal was still in its infancy stages When Megadeth recorded their debut album, Kiling Is My Business… And Business is Good for $4,000. And Dave Mustaine proved that he was more than just the former lead guitarist of Metallica with the album, but it’s not like it was a game changer. Peace Sells, on the other hand, was. Capitol Records bought the rights to the album from Combat, which was produced much better than their debut. Mustaine applied an almost punk-like delivery to the album’s thrash, with political commentary mixed in among the guitar solos. Add to that a music video for the title track that got tons of airplay, and the title track itself, whose familiar bass line was used by MTV for its MTV News segments for years, and you’ve got the makings of a masterpiece.
