The first time I heard Jared Warren wailing on a Big Business record was inside a van, parked deep within a forest of Idyllwild, California. It was Halloween night in Dark Canyon. I thought to myself, “This is what I’ve been searching for, the final piece to the puzzle.” Jared Warren’s voice is enigmatic; he maintains pitch while locking down his gnarly grit. I struggled for a year to emulate his vocal approach. When I finally nailed it down, I felt as if I found my true metal voice. He’s so fucking cool.
