New & Noteworthy: Wake Up the July 2024 Releases

Kasabian, Happenings (Sony Music):
The UK rockers have said that their eighth studio effort is “about pure joy and takes you on a psychedelic trip through the dance floor to the mosh pit.”

Bacchae, Next Time (Get Better):
The DC punk band’s fourth album is described by the band as “a lament,” saying on their Bandcamp, “Almost every song on the album is about mourning or regretting something that has been lost: work-life balance, a lover, a way of life, your motivation, your mental health, a sense of self.”

The Rifles, Love Your Neighbour (Cooking Vinyl):
The UK rock band returns after almost eight years with a new album inspired by their fans and the energy they bring to live shows. According to their bio, the album includes songs that are “as gritty as they are anthemic, and full of lyrics which capture broadly relatable experiences and provide evocative snapshots of modern British life,” as well as urge listeners to “embrace the power of your local community.”

Truck Violence, Violence (Mothland):
Mixing hardcore and folk genres, the Canadian band’s debut full length is said to take a truthful look at themes of “addiction, abuse and dysfunction” in a way that “uniquely captur[es] this involuted setting through a wide lens to both contextualize and emphasize what it means to be overwhelmed, to feel shame, to struggle with self-destructive ways, to thrust oneself into art as an escape.”

Visions of Atlantis, Pirates II – Armada (Napalm):
The symphonic metal band continue the pirate theme on their ninth studio album, bringing fans an “emotional” and “deep” work meant to bring them on a “journey in which listeners face their own battles and cannot resist joining the “Armada.””
