July 19, 2024 Release Highlights:
Deep Purple, =1 (earMUSIC):
The influential hard rockers release their 23rd studio effort, which the Blabbermouth says “embodies the essence and attitude of their 1970s incarnation possibly more than any other album in recent memory” and with Bob Ezrin’s production “evokes the pioneering band’s classic sound, without relying on nostalgia.”
Dr. Dog, Dr. Dog (We Buy Gold):
The veteran indie rockers release their 11th studio album. Paste called it their best work in a decade from “a rejuvenated band rediscovering their gifts—and one another—far away from the expectations of the larger world.”
Highly Suspect, As Above, So Below (Roadrunner/300/Elektra):
The alt-rockers look to avoid the go for a more live sound with their fifth studio effort, saying of the album, “It’s the most natural-sounding Highly Suspect album ever. Almost everything you’re hearing was done in one take. That being said, sometimes it would take 60 takes to get the take. But with the exception of the occasional overdub most of what you’re hearing is live. More so than we’ve ever done.”
The Raveonettes, The Raveonettes Sing… (Cleopatra):
The duo’s ninth studio effort, and first album in seven years, features covers from artists who’ve influenced them.
Her Head’s On Fire, Strange Desires (Iodine):
According to the band’s bio, the indie rockers’ sophomore album “deepens and expands on their first release. It has moments reminiscent of late 80s New Wave, early 90s indie, and post-hardcore peppered with poetic oddities that make the band’s music memorable.”
